How long have you been in business?
I've been an independent bicycle and pedestrian transportation planning consultant since 1999. Before that I served as Stanford University's first Bicycle Program Manager from 1995 through 1998, and was a software designer and trainer for 18 years prior to that.
Since 2001 I've been coaching adults, teens, and kids on how to ride bicycles for the first time. As of 2017 I've taught over 1,500 persons.
What is your primary product or service?
1) Transportation planning and design for bicycling and walking
2) Bicycle parking and storage ("bike room") layout, product sales, installation and consulting
3) Bicycle coaching ("Learn To Bicycle At Any Age", "Bicycle Handling Skills Clinic", "Ride-Along Coaching") and bicycle driver education (street cycling) classes
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I've used bicycles since childhood, and have used bicycles for transportation most of my life. After a first career in software design, I transitioned into transportation in the mid-1990s after spending several years serving on city and county Bicycle Advisory Committees.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I provide expert services based on almost two decades of experience.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Bicycle Solutions is based in San Francisco, CA. We are available for planning, design, and bicycle storage projects nationwide. Bicycle Solutions is single-person company and will remain so.

What type of payments do you accept?
Planning and design work is by contract or hourly.
For bicycle lessons I accept cash, checks, Venmo and PayPal. Credit card payment is available through PayPal.
